Tom Pidcock wins Olympic gold in the mens XC at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics

Great Britain’s Tom Pidcock has won the gold medal in the Men’s Olympic XC Mountain Bike Race at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics. Pidcock riding the AXON34 WERX suspension fork and Edge rear shock went hard from the start before settling in with the Swiss duo of Mathias Flueckiger and defending champion Nino Schurter until lap 4. At the start of lap 5 Pidcock was on his own before soloing in for the gold medal ahead of Flueckiger and Spain’s David Valero Serrano who overtook Schurter for Bronze. Pidcock who only 2 months earlier fractured his collarbone is the youngest Olympic Mountain Bike Gold Medalist at the age of 21.
